Week 3

Congrats to those of you that took the Mighty Criminoles at +8 for the sucker bet of the week.  In a fine reversal of fortune, our experts went 18-9 this week.  The group is 26-22 on the season. (54.2%)  That is just enough to cover the vig.

Renegade has been out of town for two weeks and maybe should stay gone for the entire season starting a red hot 5-1. Nice call by the D-Man on the Oregon v. UT final score.  Makes up a little for sucking balls in Week One.

FROM HERE ON OUT, WE WILL USE THE OPENING LINE ON VegasInsider.com FOR ALL PICKS.  THAT IS THE LINE WRITTEN IN BLACK ON THE FAR LEFT.  THIS WAY, EVERYONE GETS THE GAME AT THE SAME SPREAD.

Last week (week 2) had its share of beat downs, close calls and outright upsets … For those of us that make these “guesses” it seems conventional football wisdom has gone out the window:

Stanford (-16.0) v. Wake:
Demon Deacons go west after their big “defensive” battle with Duke. Can Stanford decipher the sieve and win another one?

UConn (-5.0) v. Temple:
Big Least against an up and coming MAC team; this is a toss-up.

Notre Dame (+3.5) v. Michigan State:
Can the Irish keep it respectable in Spartan Stadium …Spartans are 2-0 after beating MAC powerhouse Western Michigan and the Sunbelt’s dangerous FAU.

3-0 last week...and the stars are aligned for another cash grab.

Pick 1
Boise St. -21 v. Wyoming. Here's a little secret for my fellow wager-junkies. Boise's the best team in the country. And guess what? Vtech's humiliating loss to JM means that if Boise wants to make it to the BigGame, its got to whoop up on everyone. And I mean EVERYONE. Kellen Moore's gonna post more scores than I did in the summer of '95. That's a lot, sports fans.
Honk if you like Blue.
Boise 47- Wyoming 20

Vandy +14 v. OMiss... Ah yes. The beginning of the end for Mr. Nutt. OMiss is going to shambles. Yes, Vandy does suck. But they don't suck 14 points worse than the Massoli Marauders. It'll be a game so ugly they think about kicking both teams out of the conference. OMiss pulls it out, and I then pull out my C-notes for the honeys once "Mr. Slim" pays the Pied Piper of Pigskin Pickin.
Omiss 22-Vandy 17

Wash +6 v. Nebraska...
How's bout a stone cold, dead bolt lock? Neb's playing a Frosh at QB, and U Dub's Locker is due to produce something of consequence. Speaking of Locker, has a person ever gotten more for doing less..or is it LES. Yes, Les is Less.
Wash 27- Neb 17

This week, Scotty B crosses the Red River in order to take his Week 3 Waltz Across Texas. As in the past, the rules are: No Boots. No Bolo. No Service.

SMU (-20) v. Washington State

Admittedly, the Cougars are a bigger opponent than SMU’s opponent last week, UAB. The Mustangs, however, have showed steady improvement under June Jones. Last year, their offense centered on a dynamic passing attack; this year, there’s a decent running game to match it. SMU’s defense, centered on a strong linebacker corps, also seems more than a little respectable. Washington State’s defense remains questionable, and, although there are signs of improvement in the form of the performances turned in so far by running back James Montgomery and QB Jeff Tuel, the offense still has a way to go.

TCU (-17) v. Baylor

Baylor is no longer the punch line it was a few years ago, and it has put up big victories so far this year. However, those two opponents were Sam Houston State and Buffalo. TCU looks at least as formidable as it did last year—and that’s saying something. The running game is anchored in an offensive line that rarely loses the fight for the line of scrimmage and two strong running backs, Matthew Tucker and Ed Wesley. TCU’s passing attack remains strong, giving it the potential for some explosiveness. Although Baylor’s QB is a little more mobile than most, I can’t see the Horned Frogs’ defensive unit being much surprised by anything the Bears’ offense throws at it.

Texas A&M (-28) v. Florida International

The Aggies have burned me in the past few years, but, for a number of reasons, I cannot keep away from making a stop in Aggieland. Gig ‘em!
