Week 2

Lots of suckiness in week 1 ladies. As a group we went 8-16. But there is plenty of time to get focused and bet against LSU each week to get back to even.

Fight On! Geaux Tigers!

Here’s a chance to partially redeem myself from my mediocre 1st week and I’m going to blow it because of my post traumatic stress disorder:

Ole Miss (-20.5) v. Tulane:
Mississippi put up over 40 points last week, but, whoops, they also allowed over 40 points. Mississippi’s new mascot is rumored to be a can of ravioli.

Texas Tech (-26.0) v. New Mexico:
“Tubs” and the Rump Raiders have a golden opportunity against the “Lost Lobos”; can they run it up?

ECU (-13.0) v. Memphis:
The Pirates don’t have “Skippy” roaming the sideline anymore, but did manage a win last week. This week they’re at home against the Tigers and they need to settle down early; you can’t rely on “Hail Mary” heroics to get you by every weekend.

Washington (-12.5) v. Syracuse:
Hopefully U-Dub and company will wake up this week and bounce back against the “Orange”. U-Dub has the home field and Syracuse has to travel cross-country; they’ll need every advantage and a little magic from Jake to stay out of the “Hurt-Locker”.

Oregon -12.5 v. Tenn..The schedulers have made it OFFICIAL. regon now knows that they'll be 1-0 this time next year. The confidence that comes with knowing an LSU "warmup" is on the horizon parlays into a Royale (w/ Cheese) beat down of a crap UT team.
OU 48- UT 12

Mich +4 v. ND..Rich Rod should be coaching LSU and have that completely inept offense hummin. Instead, he chose to get stuck with a bunch of slow midwest kids. Ididot. Still, this is the 1st year he's got his players, and they'll respond. I like ND's coach, but they're still caucasian..I mean slow... on D. Mich cover and then some. Mich 31-ND 28.

Duke +6.5 v. Wake... An ACC man, I am more educated than the rest of this board. Wake is where Duke rejects go.Final score reflects the average SAT's. Duke 1600-Wake 1520.

Time for my annual foray through The South. Time for my annual SEC Swamp Romp. A little early this year, I know, but there are just too many good games this week.
Here’s the music for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY8bXh4OkjI

LSU (-9.5) v. Vanderbilt

After almost a week of having Les Miles’ foot and hat up their rear ends, the Tigers undoubtedly are ready and rarin’ to go. With their athleticism and abilities—and with tougher play from the offensive line—LSU QB Jordan Jefferson and the receiving corps should be able to put on an air show against a Vandy secondary that looked weak last week against Northwestern. Moreover, LSU’s ferocious defense should be able to penetrate the Vandy backfield and keep the Commodores’ talented QB Larry Smith off balance the entire game. Count, too, on the Tigers being utterly focused on this SEC opponent.

Ole Miss (-20.5) v. Tulane

I will keep this one short and sweet. I feel sorry for Tulane. If Ole Miss had beat Jacksonville State last week as was expected, then Houston Nutt & Company wouldn’t have the need to redeem themselves. Alas, for the Green Wave, Ole Miss does have a need to redeem itself, and, therefore, it will play all out for all four quarters. Yes, we all have had a good laugh at Ole Miss’ expense—and rightly so—but Ole Miss just has too much talent and too many horses for the likes of Tulane.

Arkansas (-34) v. University of Louisiana-Monroe

Last week, against FCS opponent Tennessee Tech, the high-scoring, INT-defying flying circus that is the Arkansas offense showed that it is business as usual this year. QB Ryan Mallett threw for 304 yards and connected 87% of the time, and the Razorbacks rang up six unanswered touchdowns. The trouble is that, last year, Arkansas’ defense was last in the SEC in terms of yards allowed per game, an average of 402 yards per game, and it didn’t face a real test against Tennessee Tech. Arkansas made some shifts on defense in the off-season, however, shifts that some say strengthened its linebacker corps. To ensure a big win, the Razorbacks need to keep things humming at the First Down Factory, contain the Warhawks’ RB Frank Goodin (who last year ran for 1,126yards and 13 touchdowns) and keep their minds on this game—and not on the SEC tilts to come.
