As Prowler said, "Nice Bounce Back but, can it continue". Unfortunately for me I'm long overdue for an *ugly* visit from the "Wizard of Odds":

VT (-13.5) vs. UNC

Tech has to win to stay in the running for even a shot at Bowl table scraps.

BC (-3.0) vs. Central Mich.

Mr. "Chips" goes to Chestnut Hill ... Upset Alert.

Miami (-6.5) vs. Wake

If Miami can't pull this out then they are really in trouble; and so am I.

Jack o’ Lanterns are glowing. Black cats are prowling. Bats and witches take to the air. It is Halloween, the time of the year when the powers of darkness are exalted and we delve into the darkest recesses of the most frightening conference in college football. Join me--if you dare!-- for this year’s spin-tingling edition of Scotty B’s ACC Monster Horror Chiller Theater.

Virginia Tech (-13.5) v. North Carolina

Despite the loss to Georgia Tech, the Hokies still have a chance to win another ACC title. To keep that chance alive, however, they must win the rest of their ACC games. Coming to Blacksburg, the Tarheels are 0-3 in the conference. Against the Hokies’ famed “lunch-bucket” defense, North Carolina will throw an offense that often underwhelms and QB T. J. Yates who already has thrown for eight interceptions. North Carolina has a strong defense (ranked seventh in the nation overall), but, as the season has progressed, Virginia Tech’s sophomore QB Tyrod Taylor has become more consistent and the Hokies’ running game, centered on tailback Ryan Williams, has become formidable (203.7 yards per game). The Heels’ defense also will need to contain Tech’s wide receiver corps that, with the likes of Danny Coale, can produce big plays (just ask Miami).

Georgia Tech (-10.5) v. Vanderbilt

Georgia Tech certainly is rambling, but they are no wreck. Behind the best running game in the FBS, the Yellow Jackets have achieved a 7-1 record and an excellent chance of wresting the ACC’s Coastal Division from Virginia Tech and landing in the ACC championship game. This week, they take their high-octane attack to Nashville to play the Commodores, who have a tendency to upset opponents at the most inconvenient times. This year, however, the Vanderbilt defense has struggled, giving up an average of 119 rushing yards per game. The offense has sputtered as well, averaging 10 points per game in the last four games. Georgia Tech is not known for a stingy defense; so, the Vanderbilt offense probably will be able to get untracked. However, the chances are slim that the Vandy defense can find a way to slow down Paul Johnson’s astounding offense.

Florida State (-7) v. North Carolina State

It’s been a rough year in Tallahassee. The Seminoles are fourth in the ACC’s Atlantic Division with a dismal 1-3 conference record and an equally dismal 3-4 overall record. What ails Florida State can be summed up in one word: defense. The Noles routinely give up bundles of yards and dozens of points—e.g., 38 and 49 against Miami and Georgia Tech, respectively. It’s a pity, too, because Florida State’s offense is quite impressive. Led by QB Christian Ponder, who connects on 70.3% of his passes and has thrown for almost 2,200 yard this season, the Noles have no trouble finding the end zone. For example, they scored 54 points against Brigham Young, 34 against Miami, and 44 against Georgia Tech. N.C. State has the same record as FSU and for good reason. In its current three-game losing streak against conference opponents (including Duke), the Wolfpack has given up an average of 32.5 points and 457.6 yards per game. In this game, victory might be a matter of which team has the ball last.
