Championship Weekend
After late season runs, The Prowler & Spartan Brian are tied for first with a two game lead over the fading Scotty B. Florida and Alabama have been 1 and 2 all season with the mantra of one word "FINISH." Let's see whose steely nerves carry the day, in the SEC Championship and Renegade's Road Warriors.
BTW: Roche's performance is easily the worst in the 9 year history of the Road Warriors. (13-26) But I expect a big come back from the Motel in 2010.
BTW part Two: The only thing worse than the Belliveau Boys 0-6 on Rivalry Saturday was Al Groh's final ignominious defeat at the hands of Virginia Tech. Never has some one been paid so much to accomplish so little. I am sure UVA fans are saying to Groh, "So long and good riddance."

War Roche Motel!
Groh's tenure at UVA was characterized by his teams' uncanny ability to salvage something close to respectability from diabolical starts every year. Until, that is, this year.
The fans in Hoo-ville will be not long mourn Groh's departure. However, they've now entered that interesting situation in which Virginia's AD now has to find someone can muster up the courage to face the facts that UVA routinely loses top in-state talent to Virginia Tech and that Duke and North Carolina look like better places to play. Restoring respectability to the hapless Hoos will take more than a few years. I hope Virginia has the patience for the task.
Roche's picks:
Lets see if I can go out on a positive note:
Nike -8 over the Beavers
Andre Ware part II -1 over East Carolina
La Tech -16 over the other less than mighty spartans
Renegdaes picks
Gators -5 over
Bama
Cal -6 over
Wash
Houston -1 over
E Carolina
Well this is it, the last week for most of us for 2009; good luck to everyone this week:
Ducks & The Big Ravioli (-8.0) vs. Beavers
Cin-cin-nasty (+1.0) vs. Panther Piss
Skippy & The Butt-Pirates (+1.0) vs. Youz-Ton
T-Bone -5 over Sabum
Read an article which basically said all the presure is on Florida to win this game or the season will be seen as a failure. Uhhh...tell that to the Bama people. As MUCH or MORE pressure on Tide and Sabum. Tide is 24-2 in last two seasons with only two SEC West division titles to show for it thus far.
Boise -44 over NMS
I hate giving this many points...but New Mexico State blows and the Broncos will want to finish strong to ensure their BCS invite.
LA Tech -16 over San Jose State
I don't know. I had to pick a third game and here it is.
Fellow Roadwarriors, thank you for another excellent season. Special thanks to Prowler for running this particular wing of the asylum again. My last two weeks notwithstanding, it has been a splendid time. Now, it is time to try to end strong and perhaps wrest victory from the jaws of defeat. It is time for Scotty B’s Last Hurrah Weekend.
I hope you all don’t mind, but, this week, I’ll forgo the relatively long analysis and get right to the picks. It’s been a privilege flying with you, gentlemen.
Central Michigan (-12) v. Ohio
The Wildcats have been impressive this year, but I cannot see them long containing the Chippewas' potent offense.
California (-6) v. Washington
I'll end somewhat as I began: in the Pac 10. Cal's RB Jevan Best may be out of this game, but the Golden Bears' offense has been gaining ground and winning games without him. Also, Cal's defense is resolute against the run, and the Huskies passing game doesn't have enough "pop" to carry Washington if the Golden Bears contain the Huskies on the ground.
Connecticut (-7.5) v. South Florida
Connecticut ends an emotional season at home and in weather that promises to be cold and rainy. For their part, the Bulls have staggered through the late season. I don't expect them, therefore, to muster enough will to beat a Huskies team that is in fine late-season form.
Spartan Brian's Dogs of the Week:
Houston -1
Cincinatti +1
Alabama +5
U of H -1 over east carolina
usc -6.5 over arizona
florida -5 over bama
la tech -16 over san jose state
pitt +2 over cin
GT -1 over clemson
sorry, that last anonymous comment was from the chameleon
