Now that Spartan Brian has made it into the lead, it is time to start going 0 for 3 again (like the Roche Motel).

With that, I offer the following:

A.) Happy Thanksgiving to all the Road Warriors; we all have much to be thankful for.

B.) Wow, a few weeks ago it was all “Scotty B” …Not so fast my friends …Spartan Brian & Scotty B are in a *celebrity death match* in the final weeks of the season.

C.) When I’m not hunting Leprechauns (with Adam West) or trying to keep my Do-Dads out of the Turkey fryer I’m making Bull-Shit picks, and, here they are:

Midshipman (-9.5) vs. Hula-Hoop Warriors

Butch & the Heels (-4.0) vs. Fudge-Pack

Arizona (-3.5) vs. Sun Devils

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Roadwarriors and their families. Congratulations to Prowler and Spartan Brian on great performances last week. Well done, gentlemen. As to what happened to me last week, I’ll borrow an adage from Henry Ford II, “Never complain, never explain,” and get right to Scotty B’s Rivalry Weekend.

Alabama (-13) v. Auburn

Alabama is No. 2 in the nation, 11-0, and is playing for the SEC Championship on December 5. So, the Crimson Tide should roll over the Auburn Tigers, right? Well, maybe. This is a closer match-up than the respective records might indicate. Auburn has a potent offense that, in many categories, is Bama’s statistical equal or better. Bama has the SEC’s top rusher in Mark Ingram (1,400 yards), but, with 1,200 yards, Ben Tate, Auburn’s best rusher, is no slouch. So, what’s the difference maker? There are two, really. First, Alabama’s hard-nosed defense that has allowed 109 points and twelve TDs all season. Second, Bama is playing for a shot at the National Championship—and, certainly, Nick Saban has been beating that (perhaps literally) into his players.

Mississippi (-7) v. Mississippi State

I hope that Houston Nutt has been honest with his players and admitted that last week’s win over LSU owed more to a Les Miles brain cramp than to anything he did. He’ll need to do so because any sort of emotional letdown or overconfidence could doom Ole Miss’ chances against a Bulldog squad that, under Dan Mullen, is starting to believe in themselves. Mississippi State has a strong ground game that has been impressive against SEC opponents (well, except Alabama and Florida) and, overall, is good for 220 yards per game. The Rebels’ QB, Javon Snead, has thrown for seventeen TDs, but his efficiency is 52%, and he has thrown fourteen interceptions. However, Ole Miss has a potent weapon in RB Dexter McCluster who threw a touchdown pass and ran for almost 200 yards against LSU. To win, the Rebels need to contain the Bulldogs’ running attack, think “ball control,” and *not* think of where they might be “bowling.”

North Carolina (-4) v. North Carolina State

One team in this game is 21st in the nation in passing, has a QB who has thrown for almost 2,800 yards and 27 TDs, and is 50th nationally in total offense: North Carolina State. What do the 8-3 Tarheels have that the 4-7 Wolfpack does not? In a word: defense. Lately, the North Carolina defense has been nothing short of ferocious, holding opponents to ten points per game. Against Boston College, it forced six turnovers and scored two touchdowns. Offensively, too, the Tar Heels have looked better of late, but there’s a ways to go before the offense is the defense’s equal. However, this week, the Heels’ offense goes up against a Wolfpack defense that is banged up—especially after playing Clemson and Virginia Tech—and has given up 41 points per game against conference opponents (including 49 to Duke and 31 to Maryland). If North Carolina’s QB T. J. Yates can keep from throwing to guys in red jerseys (he had three INTs against Boston College), the offense could get untracked and cinch a winning conference record for a resurgent program.
