Week 7

The leader has stumbled this week. But he still leads by two games and his 73% win record is impressive.

Bringing up the caboose, unlike the Mighty Spartans, is the less than mighty Spartan Brian. Who sucks more: Jenna Jameson or Spartan Brian?

Its *weak* 7 and I still need to get my usual "goose egg" week behind me and I figure these choices ought to do it. If Spartan Brian thinks he's going to finish last this season he's got another thing coming; the cellar is my rice-bowl!

Texas vs. Oklahoma (-7.0):

I think I'm nuts. These teams are pretty evenly matched; their stats are almost identical and they're both big, grain & corn fed, boys. Playing at the Sooner Shrine may be the deciding factor?

ECU (-5.0) vs. Virginia:

"Relax, don't do it" ...Skippy and the Butt-Pirates go to Whooville. ECU has had a week off to lick its wounds after being reamed two weeks in a row. Virginia, usually a slow starter and pumped by their thrashing of the Terps, may be waking-up ....I can only hope on this one.

Notre Shame vs. UNC (-7.0):

I know I'm nuts. As the Boyz at ESPN said; "It's build vs. rebuild". The last time UNC beat ND was at Chapel Hill back in 1960. Although history is on the side of the Irish I'd love to see the Tar Heels shake the pillars of heaven.

Hogs +19 at Tubberhell

19 points! Auburn can't score 19 points in a game much less beat someone by that margin.

OSU at Mizzu UNDER 80.5

These two can light it up, but 80? Jeez. Break out the xbox.

One Legged Joe -4.5 at the "Band that hazes together, gets to see chicks make out with each other on the bus"

Who said the band was full of geeks?

Is it too late to pick Wake Forest? If so, Spartan Brian will attempt to go winless for the second weeks in a row with these homer picks.

LSU +6
Tim Tebow is gay and Florida Gator fans are not nice people.... and Charlie Weis is really fat.

Less than Mighty Spartanettes -1
I am sniffing a Michigan State-Oklahoma BCS Championship Game... or at least a Motor City Bowl.

Wisconsin +6
Unlike The Prowler, I think Penn State is a fraud...... I haven't actually watched them play per se, but they just seem fraudulent.

Roche's picks

KY +3 over Visor Boy
A good defense playing at home should be able to manhandle the cocks.

Stoops -6.5 over Stoops' Bitch
Why did they start calling this the Red River Rivalry? If one team always wins can it really be a rivalry? I guess it can be if you are a tulame fan.

LSU +6 over Urban Myth
If LSU wins this game then the Myth will be 5-5 in his last 10 SEC games. Wouldn't that about put him on par with Fat Fulmer?

I had so much fun in the Big 12 last week that I have determined to keep traking westward, heading into the mountains of the American West—and, more specifically, the Mountain West Conference. Why this conference? Well, it’s Week 7, and two teams in the Top 25 are from the Mountain West—and BYU is on the Top Ten. Of course, this is my first time making picks in this conference. So, I feel a little bit like Robert Redford’s character in this scene from the early 1970s classic, “Jeremiah Johnson.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcsXC2xFis4

The picks, pilgrim! Make the durned picks!

Brigham Young (-23) over New Mexico
The Cougars are playing solid football right now. The offense is led by QB Max Hall who already has thrown for almost 1,600 yards and 17 touchdowns and includes some very tough running backs, Harvey Unga and Fui Vakapuna. On the other side of the ball, the Cougar defense has held opponents to an average 11.6 points per game and has posted two shutouts. Conversely, the Lobos are in trouble on (the loss of their starting QB) and off the field (NCAA probation for academic fraud), and, considering this is a home game for No. 9 BYU, it’s doubtful New Mexico will be able to find a way to win this weekend.

Utah (-23) over Wyoming
The No. 14 Utes took on the Trojan-beating Beavers last week, and needed eight points in the last 89 seconds to win. While some might consider the Utes’ defense as this team’s Achilles Heel (they give up an average of 21 points per game), look for the Utes’ potent passing attack (the team averages more eleven yards a catch) to overwhelm the Cowboys’ defense.

Air Force (-9) over San Diego State
Despite the stunning loss to Navy, Air Force is a decent, if unspectacular, team. Undoubtedly, the Falcons will be keen to prove it when they take the field against the lackluster Aztecs.
