Clemson – 4.5
St. Nick rules and Clemson is always overrated, but Bama doesn’t have the big horses yet
Mighty Spartanettes +5
Looks like Coach D. likes to play smash-mouth-keep-it-close
Michigan v. Utah OVER 40.5
Even without a legit QB, the Blue Mafia and the Runnin’ Utes will put up some points ........... even Florida was able put up 35 on Michigan
Fat is the New Skinny
Da Badgers -26.5 over Akron
Fat man PJ Hill will plow thru tackles in the opener
Golden Goofers -8.5 over NIU
I am back on the Goofer bandwagon.
Rock Chalk Jayhawk -36 over FIU
Fat man Mangino rolls over worst program in Division I-A.
texas -23.5 over florida atlantic
ole miss -7.5 over memphis
nebraska -14 over western michigan
South Carolina (-11.5) vs. NC State:
Ex-Bean eater Tom O'Brien is only in his second year with the "Pack" and even though the Gamecocks have QB and Offensive line issues I'm going with the Old Ball Coach on this one.
Louisville (-4.5) vs. Kentucky:
This looks like a toss-up so I'm going with home field advantage.
Washington (+13.5) vs. Oregon:
Huskies QB "Locker" is a locomotive so they should score but, Huskies defense is still suspect ...Ty Willingham needs a break.
Renegade's picks
Louisivlle -4.5 over Hopless Kentucky
Minnesota -8.5 over N Illinois
its been working for prowler so why not try it
Auburn -26.5 over UL Monroe
a rent a win
Finally, the 2008 college football season is here. I am pleased to be again a part of Renegade's Road Warriors and more than a little pleased to be using the original system.
My picks for Week 1:
Wisconsin (-26.5) over Akron.
The Badgers probably will be the team that contests the Buckeyes for this year's Big Ten championship. Wisconsin, therefore, starts its 2008 campaign with a most authoritative win.
USC (-19.5) over Virginia.
The ACC is a watered-down conference this year with only a few teams who can play with the powers of other conferences. Unfortunately for the UVA faithful, the Cavaliers are not one of those teams. This weekend, Pete Carroll begins his quest for another shot at the National Championship and Al Groh begins his attempt to hang on to his job.
Texas (-23.5) over Florida Atlantic.
The Big 12 promises to offer drama that probably only will be matched by the SEC and, possibly, the Pac-10. Texas warms up for that season with an opener against one of Florida's equivalents to the "Directional Michigans."
Roche's picks
Clemson -5
I know Bowden always chokes, but I don't think he will do it this early in the season. He's got to give the fans a false sense of hope before the team collapses. This will be the first of Bama's 3 losses to Tigers this year.
Cal -5.5
They get to play the less than mighty spartanettes. How can they lose? Plus all of the left-wing wackos (basically everyone at Cal) are still pumped up from listening to their messiah peak at the convention this week.
Tenn -7
I wonder how much Rick Neuheisel has on this game. Did he take the Vols, like me, or did he take the points?
