week six
SPARTAN BRIAN's PICKS
LSU +1.5 [LOCK]
Unlike the rest of you clowns, I’m not an LSU slappy but even I don’t think this one will be close.
Oregon +5
Does this spread seem fishy or has Cal gotten that much better?
UCLA -12
I thought Arizona was the worst BCS conference team in the country
…….. until I saw Michigan State play last week.
RENEGADE'S PICKS
LSU +1.5 over Florida LOCK
Arkansas +16 over Auburn
Vandy-1.5 over Ole Miss
OMAC'S PICKS
Once again College Football perplexes and last week saw the Road Warriors peppered with goose eggs” but, it also saw the resurgence of “Scotty B”. I must be a glutton for punishment
but, here I go again with GT; I figure the 3rd time could be the charm. Besides, I need a matching set of “goose eggs”.
Week 6:
GT (-13.5) vs Maryland (Lock)
Iowa (-11) vs Purdue
Georgia (+2.5) vs Tennessee
Roche Motel's Picks
LSU +1.5 over Florida – Lock
OU +4.5 over Texas
Tennessee -2.5 over Georgia
The CHAMELEON's PICKS
houston -17 over ULL
rice -2 over tulane
UT -4.5 over OU (lock)
SPECIAL K's PICKS
California -5 vs Oregon
Michigan St +16 vs Meeeechigan (Lock)
Oklahoma +4.5 vs Texas
Scotty B's Picks
Across the Midwest, the smell of cooking wursts, the thumping of a German band, the delicious maltiness of a just-poured Spaten, the tang to the air, and the profusion of Lederhosen mean it’s time for Oktoberfest. This week, therefore, I take a cue from Pope Benedict XVI (see below), grab a beer and a brat, and travel around the Great Lakes for Scotty B’s Big Ten Oktoberfest. Prosit!
Penn State (-2.5) at Minnesota
As their performance against Michigan in Week 5 showed, the Golden Gophers are no pushovers. However, Penn State’s offense is coming together. After beating Northwestern 33-7 last week, the Nittany Lions are averaging 11.5 yards per reception and 5.5 yards per carry. Moreover, QB Anthony Morelli’s self-confidence probably is somewhat restored. Yet, the key element in this game will be Penn State’s tough defense. Keep in mind that, in Week 4, Penn State held the Buckeyes to just 14 offensive points. Moreover, Ohio State did not score its second offensive touchdown until the fourth quarter.
Northwestern at (-20.5) Wisconsin (Lock)
Last week, the Badgers, who showed a lot of heart and ability against Michigan, mauled the hapless Hoosiers and chalked up an astounding 209 yards rushing and 330 yards passing doing it. On Saturday, Wisconsin will bring this productive offense against a struggling Northwestern team that was unable to stop Penn State. The Wildcats’ woes will continue, therefore, and, the post-Alvarez Badgers will convince even more skeptics in Madison and elsewhere that they deserve respect.
Michigan State at (-16) Michigan
Finally, a pick that my wife—a die-hard fan of the Maize and Blue—will approve. Michigan was impressive against Minnesota in Week 5. Its ever-improving offense struck quickly (three TD passes in the first half) and, although it gave up 323 yards of offense, its defense held when it mattered (Minnesota was 3-12 on third down conversions). Facing a Spartans squad that, after back-to-back, heart-breaking losses against Notre Dame and Illinois, is teetering on the brink of disaster, the Wolverines will triumph in this classic intrastate match-up.
Prowler's Picks
UT -2.5 between the hedges [lock]
Georgia's offense is horrible, maybe they should try sticking UGA in the backfield
Huskies +20 at "three time defending national champs"
Injuries are piling up for USC....and don't for get your raincoat
Cocks and Cats (over 49.5)
hey, two raincoat references in the same week...
