Week 4 picks

Scotty B’s Week 4 Picks

Virginia v. Georgia Tech (-17) (Lock)

This week, the Yellowjackets’ resolute defense meets a Virginia offense that is redefining “atrocious”—and redefining it down. Over three games, it has managed a total of 153 yards rushing and 2.2 yards per carry. The Cavaliers’ quarterback situation is equally shambolic. Last week, Al Groh played all three quarterbacks and all three flopped. In fact, the team’s leading scorer (18 points) is the kicker—and he is 2-5 when the attempt is more than 40 yards. There will be no joy in “Hooville” as the Ramblin’ Wreck rolls over the Cavs.

Wisconsin v. Michigan (-14)

The Badgers come to the Big House with an impressive ground attack, averaging almost 200 yards per game. Michigan’s defense leads the nation against the run, giving up 21 yards per game. Thus, some analysts predict a brutal ground battle, Kursk at Ann Arbor. After considering that Michigan’s passing attack picked apart Notre Dame’s secondary, turned big plays, and gained 220 yards and that the Badgers allowed 102 passing yards against San Diego State, I think the Wolverines will treat their supporters to a magnificent, high-scoring air show.

UCLA (-3) v. Washington

Unlike Bob Stoops and “the Boo-Hooner Nation,” I still like playing in the Pac-10. Ty Willingham’s Huskies have improved. They put 20 points up against Oklahoma and pulled out a last-minute win last week over Fresno State. That emotional boost notwithstanding, Washington still needs a lot of work. Admittedly, UCLA also is “coming back” and is on the road, but the Bruins are bringing a solid passing attack (11.6 yards per reception and five TDs), a strong defense, and an accurate kicker to Husky Stadium.

OMAC'S PICKS

Other than the fact that Ohio State is still #1, I’m not sure what week three *really* decided. Is Michigan that good or is Notre Shame that bad? The Spartans will have a chance to put ND to the test this week. How good are the Gators? Hard to say since I’m not sure about Tennessee. I know I’m asking for it but, let’s see what Kentucky does in the swamp.

PS: Don’t count out LSU … The season is still young.

Week 4:

GT (-17.0) vs Virginia (Lock)

Clemson (-16.5) vs UNC

Kentucky (+23.5) vs Florida

SPECIAL K's PICKS

Meeeechigan -14 vs Wisconsin (lock)

Boise St -14.5 vs Hawaii

California -7.5 vs Arizona St

PROWLER's PICKS

USC -21 at Arizona (lock)

Hate to admit it, but USC is damn good. Plus Zona sucks balls. Maybe the Wildcats can stomp on their own logo to pump themselves up.

Iowa -20.5 at The Zooker

Iowa may be looking ahead to the Suckeyes next week, but it won't matter.

OSU -17 over Joe Pa

No one can tell Crystal I bet against the Shittney Lions. SSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!!

THE CHAMELEON's PICKS

nevada -6.5 over northwestern

ok. st -1 over houston (lock)

iowa st +26 over texas

SPARTAN BRIAN's PICKS

Much like his gridder namesakes, Spartan Brian typically starts off with a roar, then buckles when the competition heats up. Although both Spartans have fooled everyone thus far, they are both due to begin their mid-season dives this week….

Boston College -7 at NC State (lock)

Other than Florida State, Miami, Weak Forest, Georgia Tech, Virginia, North Carolina, Duke, and Maryland; NC State might be the worst team in the ACC

UCLA -3 ½ at Wazzo

If I was 17 and picking a college all over again, I’d want go to UCLA

Alabama +2 at Arkansas

Would the cumulative sum of the ACT scores of the student bodies at both of these schools break double digits?

No love for the home dogs.

RENEGADE's Picks

Alabama +2 over Arkansas LOCK

Georgia - 26 over Colorado

LSU -36 over Tulane
