Kick to the Face!

Greetings!!

Welcome back for another season of of the Road Warriors.

Rules are the same as last season.  Pick three games using the opening spread from Vegas Insider.  Post them in the comments section.

For the first week, use the spread on the FAR RIGHT, "VI Consensus."  After this week we should get "opening spreads" on the far LEFT column.

Good Luck!!

Dman's picks
1) FSU -29 v. ULL....FSU will be looking to impose it's will and justify the hype. They can't blow out OU w/o some confidence, so they better look good in the opening weeks. Not Close...FSU 48, ULM 12.

2) Clemson -16 v. Troy. Clumpson sucks, but again, opening week is where you try to make a statement. 16 is low for a borderline 1-aa opponent. The Taters look good, getting their fans hopes up only to crush them later. Clem 33, Troy 14.

3) Oregon +3 v. LSU. I've picked LSU to go 9-3 or 12-1. under both scenarios, they lost the opener. Lee is a great-to not-so-great quarterback. LSU will stop Oregon some of the time, but not enough.
Oregon 27, LSU 17.

Hand me the title now.

Roche's Picks

OU -24.5 over Tulsa
Not that beating Tulsa means anything, but the Sooners have to roll the Hurricane so the talking idiots on ESPN will slobber all over them.

Nebraska -35 over UT-Chattanooga
Nebraska vs a team whose mascot I don't even know. This has to be a slaughter.

LSU -3 over University of Nike
We should control the LOS on both sides of the ball. Our running game will wear them down and eat up the clock. Geaux Tigers!

Welcome back, fellow Roadwarriors.

Scotty B's Week 1 Grabbag.

TCU (-3.5) v. Baylor. After losing fifteen starters (six of them on defense) to graduation, there is a lot of uncertainty about the 2012 Horned Frogs. Yet, a weakened TCU remains a formidable team. On defense, a number of key players are returning, and the offense, while guided by a new QB, still packs a punch, especially on the ground. Baylor has a new defensive coordinator, but the Bears' D will need to improve expotentially before restoring its credibility. Furthermore, like TCU, Baylor has a new QB whose game-day skills are largely unknown.

Maryland (-3) v. Miami. I know: I don't usually venture into the ACC, and, when I do, things seem to go VERY wrong. However, this game is intriguing, featuring as it does two teams with new coaches and a lot of questions. I'll tip this one to Maryland on the strength of its QB Danny O'Brien and a strong corps of receivers.

Notre Dame (-11) v. South Florida. The Irish certainly will have their hands full with a South Florida team that Skip Holtz guided to a 8-5 record in his first season. Moreover, ND hasn't solved all of its problems insofar as depth at certain key positions are concerned. But, Brian Kelly has two strong QBs in Dayne Crist and Tommy Rees, an offense that now is experienced running Kelly's version of the spread, and, just as importantly, an experienced offensive line that showed skill and resiliency last year, especially toward the end of the season. Yes, preseason hype is no guarantee of future success, but I'm looking for Notre Dame to start strong.
